A local chat room site, that many allege has long-term Libdem bias, also ran up a somewhat ambiguous account of all this fun-filled chaos...

It seems that Southport's Liberal Democrats are seeking to grab the moral high ground herein, via pointing the finger of blame at others. Twisting reality is a regular office-time hobby for some politicians in this town.
This nonsense is so comical that I almost choked on my corn flakes.
Does anyone recall the Labour Party broadsheet aimed at Southport's Libdem MP's senior aide, Tony Dawson, in which he was accused of sending 1580 'abusive hate messages'?
I’m afraid that Cherie, and the countless other
identities he’s been known as on SGB/Q for the past 11 years, has always used
this forum as a playground. I am sure that in real life he has many admirable
qualities. I’ve read several comments, both on here and elsewhere, lauding him
for helping people. On more than one occasion I’ve mentioned it to him on Q.
However from a moderation perspective he’s always been a nightmare, and that’s
what we’re concerned with here. A return to the serious situation we were faced
with several years ago cannot be contemplated. For as long as he taunts and
bullies people, makes unsubstantiated allegations, etc.etc., he will be
reminded of his not so illustrious past. This forum could be one of his
greatest assets. By virtue of his own contributions he’s chosen to make it a
liability. It really is too bad.

MP’s aide, Tony Dawson; sued following
chat room remarks.
Incidentally, Mr Dawson was later
‘sued’ in the local courts by community activist and long-time CARES –
supporter Mr Bill Givens. The court found against Mr Dawson and issued a court
order against him for a four figure sum, of which he apparently paid in full to
Mr Givens.
This litigation occurred in 2005
after Mr Dawson had written certain comments on the SGB chat rooms against Mr
Givens. Mr Dawson’s activities on the internet had cost him a great deal of
money.
Mr Givens had only wished to put the
record straight and respond to the personal untruths against him. However, when
appeals for a just solution failed he put his faith in the justice system.
A large amount of data saved from
the SGB chat room etc indicates that the poster who wrote such unusual ‘Donkey’
remarks and many other bizarre comments was known as ‘Tonio’. The Southport Party also mention this story
on their site – see index page for more details.
According to a Labour Party broadsheet Mr
Dawson made “1580 messages” before he was "banned". A supportive source previously sent SW
extracts from what was the Labour leaflet, which Mr Dawson apparently objected
too.

Yes, blatant double standards seem to be the order of the day within Southport's web-encrusted political circles...
I also note that Mr (now Cllr) Dawson was also previously pictured outside the Libdem office in Southport signing the SGB Black book as 'Tonio.'
I have saved a series of highly offensive posts from the old SGB site, which relate to unpleasant comments made by the poster Tonio... not very nice at all.
Tonio made this post on SGB some years ago about me. How honoured I was to receive such attention....

Dear SGB Readers,
As Phil Rodwell will confirm (and kindly already has done elsewhere), I have never been banned from this web-site (or indeed any others); I was asked to cease posting for a short while, several years ago, and was immediately personally invited back by Phil once the problem disappeared. Such invitations, however cordially expressed, do not have to be taken up. I understand that some among those who delighted, years ago, in spreading false tales about me are doing their best to bore Southport.GB readers again. A Mr Patrick Regan fairly recently accused a well-known and prominent member of another political party of being myself, in respect of a letter published in the Southport Visiter which criticised his conduct and, I gather, has been making public ‘identifications’ with equal ‘certainty’ on this site, accusing me of being a poster called ‘Prasnee’ and a whole myriad of others. Mr Regan appears to have difficulty grasping the idea that there are considerably more than a few people in Southport who do not find his monotonous and obsessive rants valid, newsworthy or interesting – and these people don’t necessarily share the same (or any) political perspective. In the peculiar depths of Mr Regan’s mind, it seems, that however many people are disagreeing with him there must really be only one single person out there who completely mirrors his own obsessions. I am certain that Southport.GB community will recognise that (thankfully) despite his many internet ‘identities’ there is only one Patrick Regan! I do not intend to publish here further on this subject. The solution to the problem for readers lies in the hands of yourselves, and of the site management, who I trust will exercise proper and appropriate discretion in respect of defamatory postings. As we can see Tonio signs off as 'Tony Dawson.'
Some people have alleged that Tonio ditched that AKA as it clearly had become too hot to handle. That is quite understandable. However I was also directed to another post made by a site administrator, which may be quite revealing in view of the recent Council chaos...

Seivad speaks of Cherie’s “countless other identities.” She also mentioned that he is a
liability and that he bullies other posters. Most revealingly she highlights
