Repair work on Woodvale's eyesore continues

Workers today carried on with operations to patch up the Brook eyesore on the corner of Sandbrook Road/Way.

The troubled Woodvale site has been a focus of various problems and local embarrassment for many years.

Ainsdale's Cllr Haydn Preece stated: "After years of requests for repairs and repeatedly stating my views that the structure is dangerous with loose cladding and fabric it is good at last to see some attention being given to this eyesore that is within four miles of where the world will focus their attention this summer with the Open Championship. What a contrast!"

Cllr Preece added: "I am pleased that this structure is now on the list of priorities for restructuring/rebuilding with Sefton Council. That has taken me seven years to achieve. Constant lobbying from myself and colleague Cllr Lynne Thompson have so far achieved flagging up this dilapidated building and making it a high priority for future exciting development."

Many residents and politicians have called for the demolition of the eyesore and believe that pressure must be maintained at this site.
